It’s been so cold in New York lately that my skin was suffering from extreme dryness. Even though I was following my normal routine my usual products weren't moisturizing enough to fight the low temperatures.
I started to see dry patches and peeling in some areas of my face, so I began to add some extra deep moisturizing products to my usual serums and moisturizers, especially at night.
I tried a couple of different things and after doing some testing these are the winners:
ORIGINS DRINK UP INTENSIVE: This is an overnight mask. I cannot tell you how moisturizing this mask is. I apply it at the end of my routine on top of my serum before going to bed, and I wake up with hydrated, plump, and dry-patch free skin every time I use it. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil, and Japanese Seaweed and it smells delicious, like apricots. This is definitely the best overnight moisturizing mask I've tried. I’m obsessed!
BOSCIA SUPER CHARGE OVERNIGHT MOISTURE and FIRST AID BEAUTY ULTRA REPAIR CREAM: I apply any of these two moisturizers on top of my La Mer. I know it sounds like a lot but it’s not. At least for my skin. Maybe if you don’t have dry skin, as I do, you can skip these and just use the Origins mask a couple of times a week, but I need some serious moisturizing to keep my skin happy during the winter. I love both.
JOSIE MARAN ARGAN INFINITY: this is a creamy oil. It’s a blend of essential fatty acids and vitamin E that is infused with 100% Argan Oil. This is really different from everything else I tried before. It feels like a balm. Even though it’s supposed to be a creamy oil it feels more like a cream, which I love. I use it in the morning on my cheeks to give a little sheen and glow to my face after applying my makeup. It works like a barrier against the cold. I also apply a tiny bit on top of any dry patches I might have. It’s just perfect. I’m in love.
What I also really like about these products is that all of them are preservative-free and botanically-based skincare products, which is what I’m trying to stick to as much as possible.
A final suggestion, get a humidifier. It works beauty wonders not only on my skin but also on my hair to battle the low humidity and central heating.
